I read on my phone in the mornings and books (wood-based telecom) in the evening.

I happen to be about 140 pages into your book, so this is a nice related fictional addendum.

I’m almost embarrassed to ask, but you have read (& enjoy?) Ted Chiang, yes? This took me back to that rare joy of feeling of highly structured imagination.

I haven't read Chiang, but may someday. The truth is I don't read much science fiction, though I' delighted when something I've written unintentionally harmonises with work that's already out there.

Well, should you find yourself in the rare mood for following recs, my favorite is Anxiety is the Dizziness of Freedom (available free on OneZero), but I think you'd enjoy The Merchant and the Alchemist's Gate (in the published collection Exhalation).
