Believe it or not I actually went over to your old blog a week or so ago as it seemed that there had been no JSR missive in a while. When I discovered that it wasn’t there I was shocked and dismayed, and I made do with an old n+1 article you wrote about renting an apartment in Berlin with an Arnold Schwarzenegger pinball machine. I realize this is getting extremely parasocial, but the loss of your work from your blog would’ve been a disaster, so thank you for putting this up. Substack readers probably don’t realize it but JSR has been putting out quality work on the internet for around 20 years.
Despite the disclaimer, an essay from February 2020 in the first of the PDFs has more than a little value: "Why Philosophers Should Study Indigenous Languages" along with its "Postscript On Denoting". Interesting too are the translations into French (and Sakha) of some poems by e.e. cummings.
Hope the reference to copy-pasting is a joke. If not, search for how to export when Substack goes the way of TypePad.
Looking forward to reading Carlyn's prize winning essay!
I did attempt to rack my brains at the weighty question when it came out, but all I could think of were some literal-minded arguments against the idea of perpetual anything... definitely not worth submitting. Maybe next time!
I downloaded the three PDF files onto my phone so one additional version of the archive exists on a device that will probably exist for at least another six months and possibly much longer in an unused drawer that my be its final resting place. But one more copy of the archive exists

What a treat, JSR 'juvenilia' in bulk, and for free! Yay, thanks!
